Mr. Torres serves as Director of Business Management for Hotwire Communications. He has a background in banking, strategic media sales, and business development, as well as being the father of four children - a title and responsibility he relishes the most.

James Torres fell in love with our iconic community after a visit he made to South Florida over ten years ago. He was fascinated by the eclectic nature that is Miami. From its historic sites, futuristic skyline; beautiful parks, and open spaces; its devotion to the arts and diverse urban culture; to the splendor of our beautiful and pristine coastline, to the energy and vitality of its young residents, blended with the older generation to create its current, almost “bohemian,” atmosphere that has attracted so many people from around the world. With all its charms, would there be any doubt that Miami would cast its spell on James? After all, they don’t call Miami, “The Magic City,” for nothing.

James Torres has proudly made Miami Commission District 2 his home for the past decade. He is a proven consensus builder and issue-driven leader with a long track record of delivering results on behalf of city residents. He serves as the president of the prestigious citywide Downtown Neighbors Alliance (DNA) community organization. The DNA represents around 30,000 residents within the Central Business District and the Park West Neighborhoods. The Alliance has been improving the quality of life, the common good, and the general welfare of all downtown residents and businesses since 2013. Before serving as DNA's president, James Torres served as president of the Board of Directors at the Viscayne Condominiums.
